An Environment Where Children Thrive
Learners and parents recently completed a feedback questionnaire asking them to describe Pivot’s impact on their educational journey. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with many learners expressing how life-changing Pivot has been and parents describing positive changes they have observed in their children. The questionnaire enables a better understanding of learners’ lived experiences, and enables Pivot to respond to their voices.
A large volume of responses we received pertained to the experiences of learners who feel that Pivot’s approach allows them to access education in a way that best meets their needs.
“You get me here.” – Learner quote from February 2025 questionnaire.
Learners who join Pivot have often had a turbulent time in their past educational provisions, due to not having their needs recognised and met. At Pivot we start with building relationships with learners and their families, listening to their stories which allows us to create pathways for future success.
“Pivot have changed the life of my child, from a child that spent 4 years at home, unable to access education, due to his needs, and the horrific failure by mainstream education systems, both primary and senior schools. Pivot have given my child, light in his eyes, a thirst for learning, and confidence beyond anything I could have ever imagined. A Pivot Academy, should be available for every child neglected in the education system. To all at the Pivot Academy, I thank you for changing my child’s school life and creating the opportunity for him to make some memories of just being a kid in school.” – Parent of Leeds Learner – Email received via Head Teacher
Curriculum
At Pivot, learners are encouraged to partake in activities and lessons that they find engaging, thus allowing them to develop the required skills for their next steps. Recently, learners took inspiration from Guido Daniele’s ‘Handimals’; these wonderful creations have been a part of their unit award.
At Pivot, we give learners access to activities and experiences that allow them to learn in a way that brings out the best in them. Other opportunities such as climbing, horse riding, construction and art contribute to learners’ overall well-being whilst, allowing them to access education in a safe and nurturing environment.
Here is some of the work that Pivot learners have created over the past couple of months. We think they are fantastic! What do you think?
“You lot are amazing” – Kirklees Learner – February 2025 questionnaire response.
Thank you for all of the feedback and to everyone who has contributed to making Pivot an environment where children thrive.
