An exciting chapter for Pivot Group is about to begin.

Following our successful ISI Material Change Inspection at Pivot Academy Kirklees, we have received the recommendation to expand our Kirklees provision — increasing our potential capacity up to 250 learners over time and extending our age range to include children from Year 1.

For the young people in and around Huddersfield who need specialist SEND education, and for the families who have been waiting for the right place, this matters enormously.

The ISI inspection confirmed that our curriculum, safeguarding, premises, staffing and leadership are all ready for this next step. And in many ways, this is exactly what our Pivot 2030 Charter is about, being where we are needed, growing our provision, and making sure more young people can access the specialist support they deserve.

The foundations are in place. The Charter sets the direction. Now we build.

This event is aimed at professionals working in and around SEND; local authority representatives, SENCOs, school staff, and referral partners, who want to see our provision first-hand, meet the team, and find out more about the support we offer to young people across the Wakefield area.

We are incredibly proud to share some wonderful news from Pivot Academy Kirklees.

Following a Material Change Inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate on 15 May, we have received our formal report, and the outcome is exactly what we hoped for. We have received the recommendation to expand our Kirklees provision — increasing our potential capacity up to 250 learners over time and extending our age range to include children from Year 1.

The inspection found that our leaders and staff "work well together to promote a robust and vigilant safeguarding culture", that pupils "behave well in lessons and demonstrate inclusive and supportive attitudes towards others", and that "senior leaders demonstrate secure knowledge and skills and discharge their responsibilities effectively."

None of this happens without exceptional people. To every member of staff at Kirklees; thank you. This report reflects your commitment, your care, and the environment you build every single day for our learners.

To our families, thank you for your trust. It means everything.

And to Katie Lockwood and the leadership team at Kirklees; this is a remarkable result. We are so proud of you.

Today we are proud to launch the Pivot 2030 Charter.

This Charter is more than a document.

It is our public commitment to the young people, families, staff and communities we serve every day. A reflection of where we have come from, what we believe, and the future we are building together.

Over the past 10 years, Pivot has grown from a simple belief that children deserve better into a family of schools, teams and people working every day to create futures through belonging.

The Charter sets out five clear promises that will guide everything we do to 2030 and beyond:

One of the things we believe at Pivot is that education works best when it's connected. 🤝

Last week we welcomed Teya Richardson and Amy Findlater, students from the University of Huddersfield, to spend time with our team as part of the Pivot Outreach Programme.

We loved having them around. And it sounds like the feeling was mutual.
"All your team were extremely welcoming and it was lovely that many staff were engaging in conversations with us about our course and our interests. Getting to experience how your site works was insightful, and the students were all extremely welcoming to us and had no issue with us getting involved."

That last bit is the part we're most proud of. Our learners, welcoming university students, getting involved, being curious. That's the Pivot community in action.

Thank you Teya and Amy, we hope to see you again soon. And thank you to the University of Huddersfield for the ongoing partnership. 🎓
