"For the first time, it feels like everything is going to be okay."

Dawn's daughter had been out of education for years before she found Pivot. Anxiety high, attendance low, school something to fear. Dawn cried in the car park on her first visit because she couldn't believe a place like Pivot existed.

Today, her daughter attends full time. She is happy. She wants to be there.

Over the past four weeks we have walked through the five commitments of the Pivot 2030 Charter — People, Places, Progress, Partnerships, Sustainability. Each one matters in its own right. Together, they make Dawn's sentence possible.

The Charter exists because of families like hers. Read it. Hold us to it. Tell us where we should be better — and please tell us if you, or a family you know, would benefit from a conversation about Pivot.

Because children deserve better. Not as a slogan. As a daily practice.

This weekend, our founder and CEO Michael Smith and COO Kathryn Parkinson wrote for the Yorkshire Post about ten years of Pivot Group , and about why Yorkshire’s SEND system needs more than a white paper to catch up with the children waiting right now.

Since opening our first centre in 2016, we’ve grown from a handful of learners to more than 170 staff working with hundreds of children across Yorkshire each year.

That growth was never the goal. It’s the visible edge of demand that’s been rising, quietly, across our region for a decade.

Free Summer Bands in Leeds Parks concerts run right through to September across parks all over the city, relaxed, outdoor and completely free. The National Gallery's Art on Your Doorstep exhibition at Oakwell Hall Country Park, Birstall, runs free until 30 September, a great day out at your own pace.

The fifth and final commitment in the Pivot 2030 C

The fifth and final commitment in the Pivot 2030 Charter is Sustainability.

Maintaining financial stability through efficient planning. Ensuring the Pivot model remains scalable and replicable. Embedding environmental responsibility across all sites. Demonstrating measurable social and economic impact through transparent reporting.
It is, quietly, the commitment that protects all the others.

Specialist education only works if the organisation doing it can keep doing it. Financial stability is not a priority in tension with our values. It is what protects them. Our colleagues who have been here longest understand that in a way that is easy to miss from the outside.

The Charter is a five-year commitment. Sustainability is how we make sure it is a fifteen-year one.

What a day! There was plenty of energy, encourage

What a day!

There was plenty of energy, encouragement and smiles at this year's Pivot Academy Sports Day at Leeds Road Playing Fields.

It was fantastic to bring together learners and staff from our Kirklees Salus House and Technology House for a day that celebrated teamwork, resilience and giving things a go.

Whether competing, cheering each other on or simply enjoying being part of the day, everyone showed what PivotLife is all about, supporting one another, building confidence and celebrating every achievement.

A huge thank you to our incredible staff for making the day such a success. Special thanks to Paige Costello for helping organise the event and to Brad Dawson and Kyle Stoker for all their support throughout the day.

Days like these remind us that learning doesn't just happen in the classroom. It happens through shared experiences, new challenges and creating memories together.

We can't wait to do it all again next year!

Our Wakefield hub Open Day was a brilliant success.

Ollie and the team welcomed a fantastic mix of visitors, commissioners, parents and professionals, all keen to see how Pivot ticks and to experience the kind of provision our current Wakefield learners enjoy every single day.

What was particularly encouraging was the number of people who couldn't make it on the day but have already been in touch to arrange a visit over the coming weeks. It's clear there's real appetite to understand what we do, and we're very happy to show people.
